Here I am showing how I have been following codes and conventions of trailers for football documentaries. I have used the Take Us Home Documentary from Amazon Prim, which is about Leeds United trying to earn a place back in the premier league. I have taken screen shots from the trailer to show how I have followed codes and conventions within my short film:
Convention 1:
Here I have shown how I have followed codes and conventions of documentary trailer because I have shown how I have used interview snippets within my trailer to help tell the story but not the whole story so that the audience would want to watch the film.
To add to this, I have used cometic techniques to make sure that my footage meets the standard set. It is clear from the Take Us Home Documentary, lighting is being used, I have sued soft boxes to create focus on to Andrew during his interview. I have paired this wit camera setting, by changing exposure and ISO, as I was using lights this was key. Pairing the camera and lighting together, meant I could create a high quality image and interview. For example, I looked at Leeds Take Us Home, and the featured interviews where done with focus on one person, which I have followed the convention of here.
Convention 2:
Here I have shown how I have shown, how I have similar to the Take Us Home Trailer used a wide shot to show the football team playing. This is expected to be in use because both focus on football, it is expect that in the trailer it will showcase videos of the team playing.
With this, I had to use ambient lighting, similar to how the Take Us Home documentary likely captured these scenes. This is because of the fact, that I did not want to distract the players by bringing in such big lights. Additionally to this, it would have been a hard task to light the whole of the pitch it would be unethical do to this. However, changing my camera setting by upping the exposure and the saturation to make sure the camera and the picture met expected cinematic footage such as the this shown.
Convention 3:
Here are two behind the scenes clips from each of the documentaries. I have used a soft box light within my scenes to record them and create a low dimmed image which adds to the drama for the scene. Verses the behind the scenes, scene from Take Us Home, which uses lighting, which likely follows the camera because they are a high scale production company. I chose to use soft boxes, which were dimmer in light because it would add to the scene and the drama of it. It also is similar to other changing room talk scenes in other documentaries such as the Salford City FC documentary. To add this, it is expect that footage from behind the scenes would be chosen so this helps meet genre conventions

LO4: Apply cinematic lighting techniques for the scenes and locations[✓]
When I was filming for my interview, I used soft box lighting for both the interview which were conducted. I followed my floor plan and, this was done by setting up the two soft boxes, either side of the 4K Sony Camera, so paired with this and changing in the camera setting with the saturation and exposure. I used the soft boxes because they would allow me capture the best quality image. The settings on the camera, were change so my ISO settings were lower as I used 600 ISO, with this I used a wide aperture as I was inside and creating images with the lighting equipment

This is in the changing room during the team talk of St Joseph's FC. With this, I had to change the settings of the lighting, I used soft boxes again and followed my expected floor plans. With this one, I took the soft box and dimmed it because I wanted a darker look to this scene. I also changed the camera setting from what was there in the interviews. For this with my camera, I had higher setting in ISO, and also a wider aperture with a higher exposure, as even though I was inside the room was a lot darker.
This is footage of the game itself. This time I was using ambient light, with the use of ambient light. This meant the setting of the 4K camera had to be changed to fit what the weather was like and allow me to get a better picture. The camera was set up at the side of the pitch. I used ambient light because this would not distract the players from their game and I would be able to get raw footage of what the game was like. For this, my ISO was around 800 as I was outside, the exposure was lower, with my aperture wider for more light which is ambient to be let into the 4K Camera.

LO2: Lighting and Shot Plans (Floor Plans)[✓]
Here I have created my floor plans for my short film and shots and scenes which I will be using techniques which I have investigated.
For the first shot plan, this will be the plan for my interviews which I will conduct. This will involve using two soft boxes either side of the camera. I will be using the soft boxes to create a ambient lighting look but also look professional, as I need the quality of he picture to be good.
For all my plans I have drawn in the camera,s this camera will be a Sony 4K camera, as it is an industry standard camera which will allow me to capture good quality images and additionally it will let me change the setting depending on what I am shooting. Such as sports mode which will be in use when shooting the footage of the game. For the second floor plan, I will be using a dimmed soft box to create a darker picture, as it is in a changing room. This will be because these are more dramatic shots, as it will involve the team talk and it will showcase the behind the scenes of the team.
For the third floor plan. I will be using ambient light to film the football team. This is because, to get the full effect off the game, there cannot be distraction with not lights which are typically used for other things. This will allow me to capture a good image of the team.

LO3: Treatment[✓]
Treatment
I will be creating an interview piece, this will involve using lighting and a articular camera. this piece will be apart of a bigger project, but this will be the part where most cinematic techniques will be in use. The video, will have a target audience of males, in the C2DE, aged 25+, this is because the interview is about football and will focus on an interview a certain small club. As the this is for an audience form a small town, they would fall into the C2DE, category because it is known for being former mining town.
Purpose
The purpose is to entertain the audience, as they would have an interest in football in the area and surrounding areas, additionally there would be a purpose of promotion because the interview focuses on a specific club and this means that during this they would be getting some form of promotion while entertaining the audience in addition.
Genre
The genre of the interview is sports, the larger project will have a focus of being a sport documentary. Location
The interviews and the rest of the footage will be filmed at the Glassworks Football pitches and this is because this is where the football team St Joseph's play football. So when, I film the interview, this will be done in the rooms next to the changing rooms, where meetings can be held. This will allow me to set up lights in the correct way. As I aim, to create a sense of ambient lighting with soft boxes, but will clearly still be of good quality.
Roles
I will be filming the footage for my short film, I will take up the personnel roles in the form of director and camera man. But my film will contain people within it. I will feature interviews with Andrew and Gus Guest, who are the chairman and founders of the club also son and father. I will also have their football team St Joseph featured throughout my film
Equipment, Lighting and Camera Settings
For my Short film, having researched different camera which could be used to create my cinematic footage, I will be using a Sony 4K Camera. This is because it will allow me to capture good quality footage, and it is light and easy to transport and move while filming a fast pace game, which is sport. To add to this, it produces good footage in resolution and quality of picture with it being 4000 pixels, more over I am able to easily change the settings of the camera, depending on weather and what I am focusing on in each scene, such as interviews or game footage making it a versatile camera, and easier to use.
I have also had to research equipment for my lighting setting. I will be using ambient light when it comes to the football game. This because during the game it is best not to distract them and keep with the ambient lighting, as their will still be natural daylight due to the fact the game is played in October from 3PM, which means there will be good lighting. I will also be using soft boxes when conducting my interviews this is because it will help me create good lighting which can be focused the interviewees and it means that with the camera, I will be creating focus and clear interviews.
Treatment for the St Joseph's Short Film
I will be creating a documentary short film with a working title of "St Joseph's F.C." I have chosen this working title because after research I found documentaries which are about the topic of football and also sport, if they focus on a singular team, there is trend in keeping with the name of the team. "St Joseph's F.C." is the name of the football team which I will be focusing on, and I found currently it is the best working title to give my film.

"St Joseph's F.C." is the name of the football team which I will be focusing on, and I found currently it is the best working title to give my film.
I am focusing my short film on sport and specifically football. I will be focusing on a team called "St Joseph's F.C." who have recently entered Semi-professional leagues, with approval from the FA (Football Association). They are currently playing in the Central Midland Division 1 North, and this is there first season as a semi professional team, as they were previously a Sunday League team. With this I will be focusing on where they could go, and look at a team whom have made their way through the leagues, but also look at a team, who have gone the other way and left the football league. I will have game footage of a game of St Joseph's Featured throughout the short film, to showcase, who they are and how they play. I will also conduct interviews, which will be broken down and played throughout my documentary.
I have chosen to do a sport documentary, which means I will have a story to tell, or I will have to be creating a film which makes the audience aware of something within a sport. The film fits into the sport documentary genre because I will take inspiration from different sports films on how they are edited and put together. Furthermore, similar to most sports documentaries, I will be telling a story. Typically, you will find the films will tell a story of an underdog, which I am doing here as I am telling the story of a newly formed semi-professional team.
In my documentary, I will feature several interviews throughout. I will be interviewing Andrew Guest, who runs the club, I will also be interviewing Gus Guest, who is the founder of the club. I will also be interview Tom Denton, who is new player at the club, finally I will be interviewing the captain of St Joseph's F.C. Chris Rawson. I have chosen to interview these people because I believe on the audience they can create the biggest impact and create the biggest emotional connection with the audience. I have also decided that I will interview fans of St Joseph's because this will allow the audience to relate to those who are speaking because they themselves are a fan of a team.
The synopsis of the film: A film about a newly rising club called "St Joseph's F.C." and there journey from Sunday league to semi-professional, as they aim to follow in footsteps of other teams, who have found themselves now playing in the EFL. With Andrew Guest, Gus Guest, Tom Denton and Chris Rawson, talking about there journey with the club, and the fans talking of what the club means to them.
Currently, the crew for the film is just myself, and I will be directing, filming and editing the film as I aim to create a high quality good short film.
To film the documentary short film on St Joseph's, I will be using a SONY 4K camera to allow myself to get the highest quality film possible. As this camera is a industry standard camera, it will be the best option for me to use, so that I can produce a high quality film which meets the standard set by the industry. I will also be using studio lights, when filming my interviews for "St Joseph's F.C." because, of where I plan to film, lights will be needed to makes sure that the film is of a good quality. I will be using Adobe Premiere Pro, software to edit my film because it is also of industry standard, and it should be expected to get the best result with my footage which will be filmed that this software should be used.
Suggested location for filming will be the Glassworks Football stadium, this is where the matches for St Joseph's are played and as I plan to use footage of the game happening, this would be the ideal place to film. Furthermore, I will be filming the fan interviews and this is where those interviews will take place. Another suggestion is the player's changing room, as this is where I would likely film my interviews with the players.
